Sharon Heights Homes For Sale
Sharon Heights Homes For Sale & Menlo Park Real Estate
Neighborhood Introduction & History
Sharon Heights is an almost exclusive residential, upper middle-class community nestled deep into the woodlands of Menlo Park. Bordered by Alameda de las Pulgas, Santa Cruz Avenue, Sand Hill Road and the Sharon Heights Golf Club, the 574-acre neighborhood sits atop the hills of West Menlo Park. Residents of this neighborhood are both secluded by an abundance of trees and given easy access to Highway 280. Built on the former Sharon estate, this neighborhood was the last large area of Menlo Park to be developed. The land now holds a variety of homes, condominiums and apartments. The proximity to good schools and the jobs of Stanford/Sand Hill Road has made Sharon Heights a haven for families.
Housing types & styles in the Neighborhood
Sharon Heights has a good mix of quality ranchers, condos and apartments. Lower Sharon Heights was the first area to be developed, from 1959 through the early ’60s. Single-family homes are well-built ranchers, with least three or four bedrooms and two-plus baths. “Upper” Sharon Heights was developed from the mid-’60s to about 1974. Homes usually look similar to earlier construction but are a bit larger on average, usually at least 2700 sq.ft. and often much larger. Some have views, and many have been renovated. The area also features an abundance of spacious condos and townhomes. Single-family homes are quite expensive, and townhomes and condos range from relatively affordable to very expensive.
Restaurants & Shopping
Both the Sharon Heights Country Club and The Rosewood Hotel offer nearby fine dining options. A shopping center just off of Sand Hill Road on Sharon Park Drive features a supermarket, drugstore, gas station, coffee shop, and more. The neighborhood is also close to the downtown shopping and restaurants of Menlo Park and Palo Alto. Both town centers feature unique and upscale retail shops and restaurants surrounded by tree lined streets. Homes in the neighborhood are very close to highway 280, offering easy access to the amenities of the Peninsula.
